AMERICAN CHINESE CRESTED CLUB POLICY AND PROCEDURES

RESCUE COORDINATOR MAY 2016

The American Chinese Crested Club (ACCC) and Rescue Coordinator (RC) will be referred to by
their respective abbreviations. The Chinese Crested Dog/Mix (CC) will also be referred by their
abbreviation.
The ACCC is not a rescue. The RC will help to find placement for CC in Shelters, Owner Surrenders,
Craigslist, Hoarders, and any other place a dog is in need of rescue. The RC will assist in helping a
potential adopter find a rescued CC. The RC works with rescue dogs only. Networking is done
primarily through Facebook, Private Messaging, and Emails. The RC will attend rescue events to
promote the need of rescue for CC. The RC will also educate about the proper care of the CC.
Emails that are received through the ACCC website are responded to by the RC and assistance
given.
Shelter Dogs
When the RC is aware of a CC in Shelter, contact will be made if more information is needed.
Networking the CC with Rescues will be done to find placement. The same procedure is done if a
rescue alerts the RC of a CC in a Shelter but is unable to accept placement of the dog.
At no time does the RC get involved in the actual process of “pulling the CC” and all arrangements
are made between the Rescue and the Shelter. When possible the RC will follow up to insure the
CC is in fact either adopted or rescued from the Shelter.
Owner Surrenders
First question to be asked is if the CC was purchased from a Breeder with a return contract. If so,
the Owner is asked to contact the Breeder to see if they will accept return of the dog. If not,
additional information is requested on the CC and the procedure for finding placement in rescue is
similar to that of a Shelter Dog. A list of Rescues that the RC networks with is provided so the
Owner can contact them directly for placement. The RC does not get involved in the process and
arrangements are made between the Owner and the Rescue.
Craigslist
Contact is made to ascertain if the Owner will relinquish the CC to Rescue with no fee. Additional
information is requested on the CC. The procedure for finding placement in rescue is similar to an
Owner Surrender.
Potential Adopters
When a request is received the RC will respond and include a list of Rescues that the RC networks
with. The potential Adopter is asked to check out the available CCs and continue to do so as new
dogs are constantly coming into Rescue. The RC does not get involved in the application process
or show a preference for any Rescue.
