Judges Nominating & Selection Procedure

JUDGE NOMINATING AND SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR AN ACCC NATIONAL SPECIALTY

The American Chinese Crested Club shall elect National Specialty judges using a two-tiered process:
1. The first part of the selection process will take place between March 1 and May 31. Each eligible
ACCC club member may nominate up to three (3) judges from a list of all approved and permit
AKC judges. The list of eligible judges will be published on the Membership Bulletin on
Facebook, sent out via the Directors Lists, Constant Contact, and/or mailed to the members. This
will be at the discretion of the Board on a yearly basis. When the members complete their
ballot, they will be mailed or emailed to an approved designated counting firm. *Write-ins for
foreign judges will be accepted.
2. During the second part of the selection process, the (7) judges receiving the most votes in Part 1
will be placed on a ballot in alphabetical order and mailed/submitted to the membership. All
ACCC members will then vote for 1 nominee of their choice to judge the National Specialty and
return/submit their ballot to the approved and designated counting firm by the due date noted
on the ballot.
Should an ACCC Regional event be held, the person who receives the second highest number of
votes will be eligible for the Regional assignment.
During this second part, one (1) Sweepstakes judge for the ACCC National Specialty may be
nominated. The Nominee MUST be contacted prior to the nomination giving their approval to
have their name submitted. Please print the nominee’s name legibly and be sure to include the
address, phone number and email or the nomination will not be valid.
Should an ACCC Regional Sweepstakes event be held, the person who receives the second highest
number of votes will be eligible for the Regional Sweepstakes assignment.
Judges may not judge the ACCC National Specialty, the ACCC Regional Specialty connected with
the ACCC National Specialty, or Sweepstakes connected with either event more than once in a 5-
year period.
Judges selected to judge the ACCC National, the ACCC Regional and Sweepstakes will be asked
to not accept a judging assignment for Chinese Cresteds 6 months prior to judging at the
National or Regional.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP/OBEDIENCE/PERFORMANCE CLASS JUDGES

Selection of the Junior Showmanship, Obedience, Rally and Agility Judges will be at the
discretion and approval of the ACCC Show Chair, Companion Event Chair, and the ACCC Board. It
is advisable, whenever possible, to use locally available judges for these events.
Permit judges will be allowed to judge these events.
GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF BALLOTS
• The voting process will ideally take place two years in advance of the events.
• Part 1: Eligible judges, and ballots, will be posted to the Membership Bulletin, send out through
the Directors Groups, and Constant Contact (and mailed to those not approving electronic
submission) between March 1 and May 31.
• Part 2: The nominations will be counted/tabulated by the designated ballot counting firm. Then
a ballot containing the names of the top (7) nominees in alphabetical order, and the request for
1 sweepstakes nominee, will be posted to the Membership Bulletin, send out through the
Directors Groups, and Constant Contact (and mailed to those not approving electronic
submission)
• The ballots will be counted/tabulated by the designated ballot counting firm.

• AFTER ALL BALLOTING:
• The results of the balloting will be announced by the Corresponding Secretary.
• As soon as there is a contracted site, the judges will be contacted inquiring of their availability,
interest in accepting the assignment, fees, and/or expenses they would charge to be in
compliance with the ACCC Judge’s Contract Terms.
• The person contacting the judges will be a person who will not be showing at the specified events.
If a judge declines the invitation, then the judge receiving the next most votes will be contacted.
This process will continue until the assignment is accepted.
• Once the National Judge has accepted, then the judge with the next highest number of votes shall
be offered the judging assignment of the Regional Specialty (should there be a Regional).
• Should there be a tie vote for the National or Regional Specialty judge election, the tie vote names
will be resubmitted to the membership for a new vote.
• The winner will be announced by the Corresponding Secretary.

JUDGES SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR ACCC REGIONAL SPECIALTIES NOT IN CONJUNCTION WITH A

NATIONAL

It is anticipated that each ACCC Regional event not in conjunction with the National will be a unique
opportunity for the ACCC to provide a showcase for our breed.

The Judges Selection Procedure will be determined on an event by event basis at the discretion of the
Event Chairperson and the ACCC Board.
